Potter Junior High Cross Country Teams Shine as Champions at Big 10 Middle School XC Championships

The Potter Junior High School boys’ and girls’ cross country teams delivered outstanding performances at the Big 10 Middle School XC Championships held at Guajome Park, with the 7th and 8th Grade Boys teams taking home the 1st Place title as Champions in their division. In the 2-mile events, the 7th Grade Girls team earned an impressive 2nd Place, while the 8th Grade Girls team captured 3rd Place overall, underscoring the talent and commitment of these young athletes.

A total of 41 students represented Potter Junior High in the competition, contributing to a strong showing for the school. Among the notable individual achievements, Samuel Pulley clocked the fastest time for the 6th and 7th Grade Boys, while 8th grader Anthony Zambrano Zepeda set the top time for his grade level. On the girls’ side, Julieta Hernandez led the 6th/7th Grade Girls division with the best individual time.

Superintendent Monika Hazel expressed her pride in the students’ accomplishments, stating, “Athletics play an essential role in fostering teamwork, discipline, and resilience in our students. We are immensely proud of our cross country runners and their achievements at Guajome Park. FUESD remains steadfast in supporting athletic programs that empower our students and help them grow as individuals. These impressive results are a testament to the dedication of our student-athletes and the entire Potter Junior High community.”
